Gif animation has been around for quite some time, along with various javascript functions to produce animation backgrounds to web pages.

What does not seem to be widely known is that animation effects can be applied to objects or complete backgrounds using filters.

Backgrounds can be subjected to animation effects such as motion blur, rotation, mirroring, flipping, horizontal and vertical shifting, checker boarding, blinds, overlaps, fade-in, fade-out, etc.
